Vermont Sampler Stories
Thursday, May 28
5:30 pm – 7:00 pm
Greensboro Free Library
Join us for an evening with Michele Pagán exploring the history and stories behind 19th century Vermont schoolgirl samplers.
These pieces of needlework offer a fascinating glimpse into early female education, family life, local history, and the values that shaped communities in Vermont. Michele’s presentation draws from her research into the Revolutionary War ancestors of the girls who created these samplers and the broader cultural history surrounding them.
Michele Pagán is a textile conservator and researcher based in East Dorset, Vermont. Her work focuses on preserving and studying historic textiles, and she currently serves as Special Projects Coordinator for the Vermont Sampler Initiative.
This program is sponsored by Vermont Humanities and is free and open to the public.
