About the Greensboro Free Library

The Greensboro Free Library is a shared community space dedicated to learning, connection, and access to information for people of all ages. We serve year round and seasonal residents, visitors, families, students, and anyone looking for resources, support, or a welcoming place to spend time.

More than a place for books, the library is a hub for everyday needs and community life. People come to read, work, learn, attend programs, use technology, explore new ideas, and connect with neighbors. Our goal is to meet people where they are and make the library accessible, useful, and welcoming to all.

Mission and Values

Our mission and core values guide how we serve the community and how we make decisions when resources are limited. They reflect our commitment to inclusiveness, curiosity, stewardship, and sustainability.

Staff and Trustees

The library is supported by a small staff, a volunteer Board of Trustees, and many dedicated volunteers. Together, we work to maintain the library, develop programs and collections, and ensure the library remains a trusted public resource

The Greensboro Free Library has served the community for generations. Its history reflects a long tradition of learning, creativity, and civic engagement in Greensboro.
