Support a Community Library for All

The Greensboro Free Library is a shared community resource supported in large part by the people who use it. While we receive some public funding, individual donations make up a significant portion of our operating budget and help sustain the services our community relies on every day. For a small rural library, the impact reaches far, and your support makes that possible.

Why Donations Matter

Community support allows the library to go beyond the basics. Donations help bridge the gap between public funding and the true cost of operating a vibrant, welcoming library.

They support the everyday services and resources that people count on, including:

  • Strong, up to date book and media collections

  • Creative materials and tools in the Makerspace

  • Free internet access, computers, and printing

  • Programs for children, families, and adults

  • Building care, warmth in the winter, and safe shared space

For a library of our size, this kind of support makes a real and visible difference.

Ways to Give

  • Donate online through our secure giving platform

  • Mail or drop off a check at the library

  • Give in person during open hours

If you have questions or would like help choosing a giving option, staff are happy to assist.

Tax Deductible Giving

The Greensboro Free Library is a registered nonprofit organization. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

For many donors, giving to the library offers both a personal tax benefit and the opportunity to support a resource that benefits the entire community. Donors are encouraged to consult a tax advisor regarding individual circumstances.

Other Ways to Support

In addition to donating, there are many ways to support the library’s work:

Thank You

Every gift helps make the library stronger for those who rely on it — students, families, job seekers, readers, and community members of all ages. Your support helps ensure that resources remain available, doors stay open, and the library continues to be a place of connection, learning, and care.

If you’d like to see firsthand how your contribution makes a difference, we invite you to stop by. Join a program, take a look around, or spend some quiet time with a book. The impact of community support is felt every day at the library.
