Storykeepers With Local Author Natalie Kinsey

This program is geared for students in 2nd-10th grades, but all ages will be able to learn together from the place that they are at.  Having done StoryKeepers I is great, but is not a prerequisite. Please read the ideas for the class in the description below and reach out with any questions. This is a free class with thanks to a generous grant.

"Natalie has been developing different iterations of Storykeepers, all of them following up on the Storykeepers units, and for the students to be thinking and exploring what was going on at the time of their ancestors' lives.

Storykeepers II Explorers will involve more Hands-On History units, dealing with various topics, such as: the history of Transportation; New Technology; Inventions; Communications; Industrial Revolution.

Students will work together to build a simple telegraph, and learn and send a little Morse Code while also learning about some other coding; building a crystal radio set; using an old telephone; the students will bring in old family recipes and make them; churning butter;  using a mortising drill.

Possibly study one-room schools, researching the students in old school photos and using the old Beers maps to locate school districts and mapping out routes the children would have taken to school.

We may be taking the stories they've learned, and work with the students on writing up those stories and turning them into their own books."

All are welcome to this free program with thanks to a generous grant.
