Library Director

Greensboro Free Library (Greensboro, Vermont)

The Greensboro Free Library is seeking a Library Director to lead our vibrant public library and help advance its mission of lifelong learning, community connection, and access to information.

The Director provides leadership and oversight for the library’s day to day operations, programs, services, staff, and volunteers while working collaboratively with the Board of Trustees to advance the library’s mission, core values, and strategic goals.

The Greensboro Free Library is a welcoming public library that serves residents and visitors through robust programming, innovative services, lifelong learning opportunities, and a commitment to accessibility. We are seeking a collaborative and community minded leader who will build relationships and help continue the library’s role as a vibrant center for learning, creativity, connection, and discovery.

The ideal candidate will be organized, adaptable, and comfortable balancing public service, programming, administration, and day to day library operations.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess, or be working toward, one or more of the following:

• Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS)
• Vermont Certificate of Public Librarianship
• Equivalent professional experience

We welcome applicants with leadership experience in libraries, nonprofit organizations, community organizations, or related fields who demonstrate strong administrative, organizational, and public service skills.

Position Details

• Part time position of up to 30 hours per week
• Hourly wage of $25 to $30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
• Benefits include paid vacation, paid sick leave, personal time, and a retirement contribution
• Anticipated start date: Mid July 2026

Training and transition time with the current Director will be available to support a smooth onboarding process.
